Baroque sacred iconography reaches a maximum level of drama and devotional fervor by standing out, against a pure white background, with the powerful representation of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Positioned in the center of the intersection and surrounded by an imposing halo of golden sunrays, the red heart burns in flames beneath a stylized gold crown of thorns. Just below, two full-length angels kneel in mutual adoration before a cup or chalice lit with flames, flanked by dense bunches of grapes that refer to the Eucharistic symbolism of wine and sacrifice. The top of the piece takes on a heraldic and militant tone with two crossed swords behind the heads of winged cherubs, while the four ends of the crucifix are crowned by sumptuous square-cut red rubies framed by organic volutes and a pointed lower finish, consolidating the object as a monument of profound passion, mysticism and artistic opulence.
